We just had a lovely two weeks in Japan, came back and can’t wait to share with you what we saw, ate and did. Here are a few quick photos before I sort out hundreds of photos in our cameras and tell you more stories later.
You probably recognise this one? From Memoirs of a Geisha?
Can you tell what this is? I’ve been thinking about borrowing this idea for our garden. It definitely changed my attitude towards moss!
A mini moss display in a temple garden.
I knew this place would make my husband happy.
There are many beautiful mountains and rivers in and around Kyoto.
We reached over 2000 meters altitude in this cool double decker cable car but it was too cloudy to see anything, apart from snow walls.
Snacks prepared by one of our hotels. Too pretty to put in the mouth!
Many impressive and a lot of the time huge wooden buildings.
Food is one big theme of the trip. Beef sushi anyone?
Lots and lots of fresh seafood and vegetables in local markets.
Oysters cooked by a blowtorch?
Having a meal sitting on the floor. My leg went to sleep unsurprisingly…
Oh deers!
Me in a kimono under cherry blossom. What more can I ask :)
They are pretty day…
… and night.
A typical Japanese castle.
I was very surprised and impressed by the wild birds in Kyoto. This big thing stood on a railing in the middle of the road early morning, about five meters away from us, about five minutes walk away from Kyoto Station.
Hope you enjoyed it so far. More stories to come!
